I have just finished
working on a new and challenging series of books for Guideposts,
and I hope you will find it as fascinating as I do. The series is
titled COMFORT FROM BEYOND, and is filled with true stories that
explore the meaning of death and God's promise of heaven. Some of
the books in the series also contain stories of God reaching out
to us through those we know and love to help us find solutions to
life's problems. Stories about times when we may be lost along our
way, we may have taken a wrong turn, we may need to be rescued,
or we simply don't have the answer to our problem. We're about to
give up - when suddenly the way or the answer becomes clear to us.
This is the kind of story I have included in COMFORT
FROM BEYOND -- a mother, grieving over the death of her son, finds
a Mother's Day card he had written and tucked into a book; a devoted
husband takes a rose from his wife's funeral bouquet, and it blooms
for years until he dies; a woman whose father delighted in creating
bird houses for the birds he loved, is comforted by a chorus of
birds as she leaves the nursing home where he died; the mother of
a young girl killed in the Columbine High School shootings at long
last finds peace as she glimpses an angelic light lingering at the
windows of the school library where her daughter died.
In these incredible moments, God is telling us that
heaven is a promise of reunion with those who have passed on before
us. He also makes it possible for them to keep in touch with us
through so many signs and messages as we go on with our lives. They
are close in our times of sorrow and helpful in our times of need.
Once we understand that we haven't really lost them, we can live
in the assurance that we will be together again. And, this time,
forever.

The first book in the COMFORT
FROM BEYOND series is Until We Meet Again: Stories of Everlasting
Love -- true stories about ordinary men and women grieving over
the loss of a spouse. Yet, in the midst of their anguish, they are
given a sign that their loved one is happy and well. With this peace
of mind, and with the knowledge that they will be reunited, the
surviving husband or wife can find comfort and meaning in the present.
Some of the other books in this series are:
Brief Reunion: Stories of Unexpected Joy
-- hearing the voice or feeling the presence of someone close to
us who passed on.
Undying Love -- the never-ending bond between
parents and children.
Eternal Moments -- when the experience of
death becomes a time of miracles.
Touched From Above: the Reassurance of Angels
-- how angels guide the dying to heaven, and comfort those left
behind.
